It is with a very heavy heart, and few words, I share with you the loss of James William Marshall II born March 9, 1930 who died this morning, January 24, 2011.
Jim was married to Marilyn in 1951 and they had 4 children. Their only daughter is the mother of my nephew.
Jim was a special person, like a second father to me. He was a prison counselor, high school history teacher, school administrator, special education consultant, he had a BS in history/education, and a MA in education administration, soft spoken, well read, a communicator. Jim helped me during some crisis times in my life, he was my guiding light during those dark times.

His daughter's words on the event of his birthday, March 2009, say so much:
MY DAD - AN ONLY DAUGHTER'S PROSPECTIVE
I AM AWFUL AT RHYMING SO BARE WITH ME AS I GIVE THIS A TRY.I DON'T EVER REMEMBER MY DADDY SPANKING ME SO I HAD NO REASON TO CRY.
I REMEMBER PRYING OPEN YOUR EYELIDS IN THE MORNING ASKING “are you in there?” LOOKING INTO YOUR EYES!
I LOVED OUR NIGHT DRIVES TO KENTUCKY AS A CHILD, WITH ME AS YOUR CO-PILOT (“future dispatcher?”) AND MOM AND THE BOYS ASLEEP IN THE BACK.
AS THE YEARS HAVE FLOWN BY YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE WITH COMPASSION AND ACCEPTANCE DESPITE THE CURVE BALLS I THREW YOU KEPT ME ON TRACK.
WE ARE SO HAPPY THAT YOU ARE HERE AT HOME WITH US SO YOU CAN BE A BIGGER PART OF OUR LIVES.
YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO OFFER YOUR FAMILY THAT SURROUNDS YOU WITH LOVE EVEN THE ONES WITH HIVES!
YOU HAVE ASTOUNDED US WITH YOUR PERSEVERENCE DESPITE YOUR STRIFE.
YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOUR ENTRY INTO THE NINTH DECADE OF LIFE!
All my love, Deeba
