Smile for the Camera, 17th Edition, 4 Generations of School Photos

The word prompt for the 17th Edition of Smile For The Camera is "School Days." The challenge in part reads: "It is September, historically the month when a new school year begins. We all have images of the days spent in school....Show us your family memories of school days." This challenge sponsored by footnoteMaven.

Ya, I got school photos, some of which truly make me cringe. Shudder, shudder, no, NOT camera shutter, shudder as in "how awful" shudder.

Got photos of the kids, the grandkids, Man and Moi. Three generations. Hmmmmmm, do I have any of the next generation, parents of Man and Moi? I find I have one, of my mother. Do not find any of my father, or Man's parents. I am not sure if this is shocking or sad.

Four generations of school photos, Grandkids:

Kids, Son #1, Son # 2, Son #3:

Now, Man and Moi:

And, the school photo of my mother:

I love these challenges because I find myself looking at my collection of data and photos with new eyes. I find myself digging around, looking for photos, documents, asking questions, googling, learning something new about me, family, and history. This challenge reminded me how important preservation of photos can be. Why? Because the photo of my mother was so fragile that it has since been lost to us in paper form. It disintegrated. I am so glad I scanned it when I did, while I could.

Great post, Carol. I especially enjoyed looking at you and Man. The photo of your Mom is classic. I love that it has the date and School Days at the top....it really fits this blogging topic, doesn't it.
