Charles Gratton Trumbo was my great-grandfather, his obituary appeared in The Daily News-Records, Harrisonburg, Virginia, on Monday, April 3, 1939:
" C.G. Trumbo of Broadway Dies
Foundry Operator and Farmer To Be Buried Today."
Charles G. Trumbo, operator of the Broadway Foundry and well known farmer of the Timberville section, died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital Saturday morning at eleven o'clock following a brief illness from pneumonia.
Mr. Trumbo was enjoying his usual health when stricken with pneumonia a week ago.
He had resided on his farm four miles northwest of Timberville until a year ago when he operated the Broadway Foundry and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. T.C. Hulvey. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond and was a skilled mechanic and educated man.
Mr. Trumbo is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hulvey, Mrs. George Lindamood, of near Timberville and Mrs. H.T. Whetzel, Broadway and two sons, Leonard and Neville Trumbo.
Funeral services will be held from the Hulvey home Monday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Ira Campbell and Rev. McNeer officiating. Burial will be in Linville Creek Cemetery. The pallbearers will be J.M. Clines, J.T. Helbert, Wade Wean, Harper Andes, Herman Hollar and A.W. Whitmore."
