On to Steward, Glaciers, Waterfalls, Lovely Flora: The Estate Takes on Alaska

After showers and Man’s most favorite breakfast view, Evah, we pull out about 10:30. This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have ever stayed in. Sadly, even tho I took a number of photos, it seems I lost them??  It happens.  SIGH.  Man, however, did take this really neat photo of the lake at the bottom of the hill and this plane with pontoons.  And, a spectacular reflection of the mountain, eh??

11:07. Bridge repair. 11:11 and we roll. Back hoe was filling deep ditch/hole, put some dirt in, move out of the way. Compactor below works for a while, traffic flows.

Look at those blue skies and fluffy clouds.  Delightful!

Several miles of delicate yellow flowers. Covering the road borders. Cheery. 800 meters altitude. That is about 2600 feet, rounded off Carol math.

At a rest stop I was able to get a nice close up of these yellow beauties, I do not know the name, if you do, please let me know.

Black bear and possible cub by side of road, no photos.

We also found this lovely thing, not many of them, just a few here and there, I finally had Man stop on the road and I jumped out and took my photo.  Another, I have no idea what it is.

5 wooden deck bridges, maybe 6?  Very neat.

Another construction zone, about a 10 minute wait and a pilot truck.

We are in such a remote area that peeps carry around satellite phones, it’s the only way to communicate.

Lunch in The Estate. This rest area has some bugs, flies and nasty critters.  Pretty much the first we have seen other than some flies. We expect to hit the end of this good streak every day. But, we are not complaining.

Many more miles of road lined with a variety of evergreens.

A hauler lost his load of pine trees alongside the road.  No photo.

Fireweed fully bloomed and some fully in seed.

Need a bridge photo - - here ya go - -

One rest stop we could smell the fall in the air, the leaves were on the ground and gave off that unique aroma.

Waterfalls. Glaciers.

We left 37 behind and took the leg to Stewart, 37a.   First up a water fall - -

Then, Bear Glacier - -

Then with the assistance of Sony III I notice 2 waterfalls coming out of the glacier -- look to the middle on the first photo and the left in the second photo, these are two different areas.  Lots of melting.  More glaciers receding.

And, another silhouette, I love the sharp peaks and such, they really show up like this - -

We end the day in Stewart British Columbia. It was warm today, well over 80 at one point.

We drove 197 miles today.
