Van Horn Texas, the Hotel El Capitan, November 2014 :: Winter Sojourn 2014/15

On our way west THIS year, yes, this year, we made a stop in Van Horn Texas.  It was a good stopping place because it was west of the current oil boom cities of Midland, Odessa and Pecos Texas.  Very difficult to impossible finding campsites in the stretch between Big Springs and Van Horn.

One day we went out for lunch, errands and snooping.  We visited the El Capitan Hotel.  We only went into the public areas of the hotel, and of course, I snapped a few photos.  They recently (not sure when, just recently)  had a remodeling, I believe it was very successful.    At least in the public areas.

The outside courtyard.

Stair well in the main lobby, one on each side of the lobby actually. Loving the tile work.

A fireplace to warm your soul.

A nice bar to sit around with an adult beverage, right around the corner from that fireplace.

And, I got this hat in their giftshop.

And, I don't take very good selfies, do I?

Till next time, Oregon or Texas, or New Mexico, or ???
