I have engaged what Blogger is calling Threaded Commenting.
If you look at last night's comments (that sunset photo post) you will see that the first few comments look like they used to. Go to the bottom of the list however, and you will see that I can now reply to each and every reader's comments individually. I think you as reader can respond to other readers as well, although I will admit I am not totally clear on that, we can learn together.
I think I am going to like this, what do you think??
Let the comments roll - -
* You can read more about this new toy on Blogger, here.
** More THE Trip posts are coming, honest, I have been spending some time organizing files, email and computer stuff and in the learning curve sphere with Evernote and Legacy. Or, not sleeping, like last night, that sunset brought a bit of wind to us during the night, waking both Man and I. I lost 3 to 4 hours of sleep. Feel like someone beat on me of course. Yawn. Now that is most exciting! Not the winds or loss of sleep, of course. But love threaded comments.
I have high hopes that this will encourage discussions. And, make it more personal. See, just like this - -
:-))
Hope you're catching up on your sleep!
I went back to the pop up window for comments a long time ago, when several people were unable to comment after I had it set to embedded. I like the threaded version better. Obviously it;s working fine here so maybe I'll play with my settings tomorrow and see what happens.
I took a nap, sighhh, now, I am sorta awake, but, I am going to try to catch up a bit more very soon! LOL
Apple, if it stops working, I will switch back in a heart beat. Hopefully friends that try to comment will let me know if they have ANY trouble at all with this set up.
Huh! Carol you are just getting all "techy" on us!
Lisa, just a techy wanna be. LOL
This is exciting, as Susan said. I really like the idea that it is more like a conversation. Thanks for taking us further down the 'techy' road Carol. I'm off to the laboratory.
So far, Jennifer, I am happy with this conversational threaded comments stuff. By the way, I picked up the first hint of this over at Google +. For me, it is encouraging me to make responsive comments to all my readers. I fell off that wagon back in the midst of THE Trip, course, I forgive myself for that, I was busy, and tired and could not keep up, and that is why THE Trip posts are still appearing on Reflections months after THE Trip ended! LOL
How cool. I haven't seen this new blogger toy before. I had been wanting this feature too. A question though, when you reply, does it go to the 1st commenter's email? I never know whether to post an answer to a question on my blog or reply to their email so they will get it.
Sorry you aren't sleeping well.
Hi Marti, About the email, let's see:
1.) I get copies of ALL the comments as part of my approval method on comments.
2.) I think the only way for others to see all the comments is to "subscribe by email", the link for that is below and a bit to the right.
I think # 2 is the answer to your question, if the 1st commenter does not subscribe, I don't believe they will get the reply responses, therefore will NOT see the response unless they come back to the post and read it.
You can let me know if you get this! :-)))
My blog just started doing the indented replies all by itself. I didn't change it. Go you being all techie :-)
Your blog is very special Ginger, or Blogger loves you! LOL
Techy, well, still not totally with it, I now note that I did not respond to Marti's comment in the proper response box, so it now shows up as a reply instead of a threaded reply.
Yep, full moon - -
I really like this format! I need to freshen my blog up a bit, and now that I've seen this format I'd like to incorporate it. Thanks for posting!
I first investigated the comment threading when I participated in a blogger sponsored hangout yesterday. I am very impressed with it. However, let me caution you to not use Internet Explorer when trying to access google+. Using a different browser caused some problems that were solved just by switching browsers. I also had a friend who could not get google+ to work using IE.
You are welcome Cynthia.
Kathy, that does not really surprise me, as my understanding is that Blogger (and Google +) do not work well with IE and some times not with Firefox either. I almost never use IE and don't use Firefox at all.
About a year ago I went to Chrome because IE was so bloated and I had a prior bad experience with Firefox. Chrome allowed my computer to stay online and upload web pages with our sometimes flaky internet connections while we travel.
I mean, if we think about it, I would bet that the programmers at Google would be using Chrome as their browser. ??? :-)))
