When in the Land of Cotton, Decorate for the Holidays, With Cotton

Copyright 2011, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

These photos were taken at the Swift Cole House, near Bon Secour, Baldwin County, Alabama during their "White Christmas of 2011.  We were given special permission to take photos in the house, just this one time.  I did not use flash for any of the photos, so most of them have a distinct golden cast.  I think it adds something to the photos, as if they were taken years ago, a step back in time.  The decorations are for the most part natural, and the use of cotton, raw cotton, just picked from the fields, is quite prevalent.    The staircase is a prominent feature of the home, decorated with lights (electric) and cotton, two photos of the staircase are included in this collection:

So lovely! I've only seen pictures of cotton used this way. Someday I'd love to see it in person.

I found the same thing amazing that Susan did. I would have never thought of using cotton on a tree. It's so beautiful and natural. I also really like the effect of taking the pictures without a flash. They feel so warm.
