Into Idaho, Declo Idaho: The Estate Takes on Alaska

Another warm day on tap, we pull out about 10, it is already 73.

This was my view at this campground, out the front of The Estate.  The owners here take much pride in their flowers and lawn.  They told us, they water every morning and that anything left out by our rig most likely would be wet.  LOL  This is a small planter compared to some of the others.

Dorian is turning into a bully of a monster storm.

We begin our drive with miles and miles of open views. Few trees. The farmers are “watering” the corn.

What we believe to be black-eyed susans guide us along.  Some are 4 foot tall.  I know it is hard to see them, but, the entire median was covered in some places.

Some places along the expressway they have plowed a 12 to24 foot wide strip. Looks like a fire break to me.  It’s so dry.  Fire danger high. Photo is difficult to see that plowed up section. It's hard at 60 MPH.

There is haze.  And, yet, we can see for miles.  The road stretches on and on - -

Water brings green and life - -

This is the Snake River, just west of the Bliss area.  This photo was not the best, as it has a huge swath of reflection/glare.  I fussed with it in Adobe a bit, probably doing more messy damage than fixing.  I decided to share anyway.  Look how far back the green goes, and if you look or can see it, there are large sprinklers watering the crops and fields as far as I could see.  It's quite amazing, isn't it?  All this desert and then, water, bringing green and life.

Lunch and fuel at Bliss. Good eats.  And more black-eyed susans, they grow everywhere.  Smiling and making me happy.

Saw two rigs west bound this morning, one had roof membrane separation. The second rig had his slide out about 6 inches, and running at 70 plus MPH. I don’t know how he could not see that if he were using his side view mirrors.

Some wind farms.

They seem to be growing some soy (which is starting to turn yellow), corn and hay.  Lots and lots of hay. Are there foreign markets?  We see a scattering of cattle and one large operation that I think was a milk farm?  But.  So much hay?  And what I am pretty sure are potatoes.

What? are these?

Why, hay of course.

Almost picture postcard worthy - -

3 pm. Off road in Declo Idaho. 2 nights. It’s hot. 91 per weather apps.  Our poorly placed, but accurate at night, thermostat says 104 at 4 PM.   We drove 201 miles today.

I spend some hours on computer chores, blogging, photo work, and backup work.
