The Beginning: The Estate Takes on Alaska

June 10, 2019

Woke to pouring rain. Did last minute cleaning and packing.  Turned water off in house. On the road about 3 hours after we had hoped for.  To be real, not surprising, as we have been so busy.

Managed to drive the 1.5. miles to pavement with out getting muddy. Ya us.

The farm fields, even into Ohio are soaked. Very few appear to have been planted. Alas, they have ducks swimming in the ponds in the fields.

Strong west winds to start out. Our nose is now pointed west.

We finally started seeing fields planted after entering Indiana. Not all fields,  as some are still waterlogged.  But a few farmers had managed to get some of their fields planted. I saw soy (actually rather large) and some corn (not too high, maybe 8 inches, size is a guess.)

The wind was stronger and, yes, we are tired, so we decided to stop at Elkhart Indiana. Yea, a fav place. About 150 miles after such a late start and all that wind beating us up. It’s a good day!

We made a stop at Walleyworld for a cable Man forgot (if that’s all we forgot it will be super, stuff happens) and fueled up (easy peasy when compared to Jolly and Tana).

Where will we stop tonight?  Mmmm. Not sure.  (Turned out it was Elkhart, Indiana, home of most RV's built in the US.)

Other than the return of the tweety bird, we are reasonably pleased with the packing, re-packing and more re-packing.  Tweety bird and I will have discussions.

Passed us on I-80.  What - - wait - - well, I'll be danged, it's an Idaho Potato!  On wheels!

A favorite place to stay in Elkhart, some of our RVing friends will surely recognize it:

Tomorrow - - heading west - - via Chicago.
