4 States, 1 Time Zone, Mega Tolls: The Estate Takes on Alaska

Late last night we discovered a water leak. Sigh. It’s part of the life style. Take a box down the earthquake roads. Stuff happens.  It also takes the wind outta your sails for a one time - or two - or

Man dried it up, several times. We used some of the water out of the holding tank. It was dryer this morning. We decided to roll west and hope it was something as simple as us overfilling the fresh water tank.

And away we go. Some of the fields here are wet, just saw a farmer plowing. Boy it seems as if it is late to start seeding. So many fields still fallow.

Getting practice for Alberta, the Yukon, Alaska and British Columbia, cleaning the windshield every time we stop, so we can see stuff other than bugs.

The winds are calmer and the skies are blue.

Lunch was near Marengo Illinois. McHenry. County.   Home of Richard and Anne Lashbrook.  Man’s direct paternal line.

Drove past Dane County Wisconsin where Man’s great great grandfather William Lashbrook lived.

Clouded up after lunch.

He had The Estate weighed on a CAT scale. We are under weight on the front axel, the back axel and the total/gross weight allotment. About 400 pounds under on the total.  Tis a good thing.

I started driving as we neared the Wisconsin border.

We have left behind Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and are now in Wisconsin. We have jumped a time zone. We paid tolls to Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.  It was not the amount (well, it was sorta, some of those tolls were over $5.00 for just a few miles?) But, dang, we kept getting stopped, pay another toll and pay another and pay another.  Nope we don't have a pass, we pay the premium in cash.  I need to find a ATM.  BTW, Indiana. You really should be ashamed to collect tolls for such a lousy west bound I-80. From the Ohio line to about Elkhart, the ride stinks.

Man informs me that one of his bucket list items is  Wisconsin Dells.  We are driving right by. Who knows when we ever will drive this way again. We drove about 325 miles today, or thereabouts. Our first unplanned stop. I think a boat ride or something may be on the schedule for tomorrow.

We are ready to stop for the night.  Dinner and relaxation, we hope.
