AUGUST 2013

Our last day in the Glacier National Park area, we were rather tired from the previous days exploring and hiking. We left much left to see, but, are feeling pretty satisfied with what we have managed to see and do.  Today, we will stay close to the campground and hit a couple of local special spots, the Goat Lick and Izaak Walton Inn, both on 2, on the south side of the park.

Goat Lick information can be found here.  In short, yes the goats come to lick the minerals.  We did not see any goats, but, the scenery was spectacular.

Always a sucker for flora, even the "past it's prime" kind.

Just down the road at Essex is the Izaak Walton Inn.  Historical, fun, luxurious.

How fun is this, you can stay in these old RR cars!

Man and I just wandered around, enjoying the flowers and the unique setting:

I had at one time, an old RR lantern similar to this.  Cliff notes version, it was found in a house my boss, the real estate dude, was cleaning and rehabbing. One of the workers thought I would like it.  He was right.  Mine was not near this fancy tho, the shades were missing.

Not a bad place to sit and relax for a few minutes, or maybe, even longer - -

Our day is done, on the way back to camp and Tana we spy folks enjoying the Middle Fork Flathead River.  I wonder how chilly that water was??
