THE Trip, THE Encore' :: Fortuna to Trinidad California, A Short 40 Mile Run

Copyright 2014, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

May 21, 2013, Note the date please.

Today's move will be a whole 40 miles, one of our shorter days.  We will end up in Trinidad.

We will see evidence of lumbering.  It is a big business.  In a few weeks we see some very interesting lumbering going on, just a hint, it involves a Tana 5er and helicopters!

Today it is cloudy, misty, foggy, overcast, and still beautiful:

It is wet, and green:

The next day is sunny and beautiful.  We set off to discover Trinidad, have a great lunch next to the water (the Pacific, the west coast!).  Sony Too and I take 165 photos.  I'll start sharing soon.

THE Trip, THE Encore' :: Caught up in Climate Ride 2013

Ya know how it is, you are moving along in your life, concentrating on what is going on and whammo, you find yourself suddenly in the midst of something you were not planning or or aware of.  It can be good, as it was this time.

Little did we know when we planned on our stop in Fortuna California that we would be present for the beginning of the Climate Ride 2013.  There were a lot of equipment trucks.  As the riders gathered for pre-take off meeting, signs of support appear.

Part of the group!

SOME of the bikes!

Yep, the ride is 320 miles!

This rider is after my heart, helmet camera mounted and ready!

At the start line, no horn, just a little bell.

We are ready!

This fellow says, recumbents work for me!

And, we are OFF!

Now, if you would be interested in reading about the actual ride, from some of the participants, visit this site and read the first entry.

After Man and I watched the takeoff, we went for a day trip of our own.  I took over 360 photos, so you just know it was a long and interesting day.  And, we better all figure on more than one post to cover it all, eh??  See ya soon - -

THE Trip, THE Encore' :: On to Fortuna California

Copyright 2014, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

May 18, 2013, a short trip from Benbow to Fortuna California.  We drive through tall stands of trees, we are impressed by the height and will remember just how tall they are and compare months later as we cross the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on our way home.  The difference is remarkable.

I love bridges and the next several weeks will give me many to photograph, different, interesting, old, new, ahhhh.

And a few miles up the road, another, running right beside the roadway, for a different angle, view.

This is what greeted us as we arrived in the campground, what???  I'll show you later.

Man and I decided we needed a bit of a walk, so, off we went, seeking exercise and found some, plus, beauty.  Remember this is in mid May in northern California.

Along the Eel River we found this delightful park, love the art hanging in the gazebo.

Wildflowers abound.

I found this Lazuli Bunting, who appeared on Flora and Fauna on June 1, 2013.

Sea Oats:

On the way back to Tana, oh, sighhhh, pink!

Coming soon, the Lost Coast of California.  What a day that was!  More stunning views.
