Early rise. 6 am.  12 hours boat ride to Juneau. Our ferry - -

Sir W going.  Here he is, his first ferry ride - -

1009 to 1200 feet deep from Skagway to Haines.

A lovely water fall - - and teal water, the light was good, eh??

Haines has a few RV's parked, pretty good views, I would imagine.

The harbor at Haines - -

Water temp (after Haines) 44 or lower.

So many glaciers, it is rather mind boggling.

Lowest tide today in 2 months.

A lighthouse - -

At Juneau the fjord is 6 miles across.

Landed about 35 miles north of city of Juneau.  Bus ride in.

Our landing point - -

Saw this on the bus ride in, I have no idea, and yes, it is out of focus, but, how cool is this??  Looks like a camper made from a very old bus??

Let off down where big cruise ships are docked. Man and Sir W made a new friend - -

Flowers, cause I can - -

Lunch, we walked to a group of food wagons with great outside seating.  It is OK to sit with a fur kid there, in fact, there were other fur kids enjoying the day with their owners. We chose Mexican for the day, it was rather yummy.

After lunch we walked back to the docks where we lazed away the day.

There was this crazy eagle greeting guests stepping off the cruise ships, who knew eagles could dance?

Float planes - - fun to watch - -

Someone walked his little legs nearly off, he made several new friends, and by now, was worn out.

Salmon at the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery. This little side trip was included in our ticket price. Interesting stuff.  It is hard to describe how many salmon there were - - hordes of them!!

Bus back to our ferry.

Leaving Juneau - -

Word is that the ferry strike is over.

On ride back to Skagway we came the long way, via the whale watching area.  Saw some, plus some harbor seals.  The light had been going flat  from about 2 on.  Gray on gray on darker gray .  To get photos you must be standing on the back “deck” area of the ferry, trying to shoot through the windows and the splashes is futile. Back on the deck, all passengers are crowding around in a limited space, and truth, I am just too short to box  - - Man took the camera, he is a bit taller - - we got a few shots - - and we saw whales.

Getting ready to dive (the tail comes out of the water) - -

And, here we go, tail high - -

While editing this "blow" the sky turned blue thanks to Photoshop, it made the "blow" so much more visible, so, I left it.  Color is fake peeps, but, pretty - -

I got a fin wave before my arms gave out and Man took over the camera - -

And, Man for the win - - he got a great shot of the dive and tail  - - and he got a "blow" photo - - both at the same time.  There was a momma and a baby, believe this was them.

We found some protected harbor seals on the way back - -

One last waterfall, believe it is the same as the first one - - two times a waterfall - - why not?

Man tells me traveled about 188 miles today  from Skagway to Juneau and back.  It was a 13 plus hour day, we were a bit tired, so was Sir W.  A good day - -
