Dear Family, Friends and Reflections Followers

Copyright 2019, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

This blog began back in April of 2009 and now consists of 2438 posts, give or take.

This week, much to my dismay (and that is putting it lightly) I discovered that many of my photos seem to be caught up in some foofoo at Google Photos where I store my images and photos. You have to have a place to store them, that is where mine go.

On mobile platforms many of the posts photos will not display anything more than a blank box.  On my computer, using Chrome, I also cannot see many photos, some display as a gray circle with a "no no" line through it.  Firefox does much the same.

I have found another gal that is having the same issue, only she blogs on Word Press, although she does have her photos on Google Photos, or, well, she did.  She is removing them and redoing 5 years and 500 posts worth of work.

First thing, I cannot totally figure out the issue.  It's one of those random messes, the kind that those that trouble shoot for a living dread.  Even within one month, some of the photos will display, others, nope.

If I could fix this and be all healthy here at Reflections by simply fixing a few months of posts that would be one thing, but,  so many photos will not display on any format.  I have not figured out how many, but, it may be hundreds of posts and who knows how many images.

I will be letting Google Photos have a chance to fix this mess, I will try to contact them at some point.  I won't be holding my breath, have you ever tried to contact Google??  It's a freaking joke!

So, for now, I will not be posting any further posts here on Reflections.  If this cannot be corrected on their side, I just have no interest in fixing it myself. It took 10 years to get all this content up here, thousands of hours or research, writing, editing both photos and content.  I cannot redo all these photos, I have other things I want to spend my life doing, not some massive do over that is because of something Google fussed up.

I will do the usual disclaimer thingy here - - I may have done something really weird, it might not be Google Photos.  But, I had not posted in weeks and something happened in that time frame.  I did NOTHING to my Google Photos account, did not access it.  Frankly, I have no stinking idea just what happened.  Maybe it was just some internet hellion, and not Google Photos after all.  (By the way, I have some swamp land in Florida - - just kidding.)

For now, this blog is on hold.  I am not sure I will even leave it online, as so much of the content is fairly useless without the images that accompany the posts.

For someone who tells the story with images as much as with words, this is traumatic.  And, that may be the understatement of 2019.

For now, I leave you, limping away, the wind has left my sails.

To you, I wish peace.
