An easy start for the day, cept The Estate was a real mess after our 2 busy days and not driving since our arrival. However, today, we need wheels, so packed Er all up.

First stop, groceries, whew, were they picked over. We managed to find enough tho.

Next cemetery. Interrupted by a delightful hike to Lower R. Falls. So pretty.

The cemetery was on the other side of the railroad track and just after we crossed one of the White Pass tourist trains came along, so, one last photo of that fun trip we took yesterday, from today.  LOL

The hike was nice, uphill, going to Lower Reid Falls, but, nice.  No bugs!

Back down the path to the Gold Rush Cemetery. You can learn a bit more about it from the Find A Grave site.

Next drove out to Dyea area.

Looking back towards Skagway, the light makes the water seem silver, in the next photo, taken looking the opposite direction, it looks teal.

Had lunch in a lovely place near the National Park campground. Interesting owners.

On to the Chilkoot Trail where we walked just a few hundred feet. Wow!  It got rough real fast!!

The Taiya River as the Chilkoot Trail begins in this area.  This is not the start of the trail, just the jumping on spot provided by the National Park Services.

Just a few hundred feet, and the trail starts up, sharply, up!

Log steps turn into stone steps, steep - -

Now, this is not the best photo, the lighting was strange, deep, dark shadows, right next to brightly lit areas.  Tough to photograph.  But, this is the trail, sharply heading up, with huge large steps. As we turned and left there was a small group of 3 and a guide preparing to start up the trail. The guide was explaining that even if you had to crawl up on all "4's" it was fine to do, just be safe.  And, that is why we did not attempt more than a few hundred feet, and never intended to.  We knew from learning about the trail this was well beyond any of our personal capabilities.  But, we wanted to feel the experience, even if only a few hundred feet.  And, we got the message and the lesson!  WOW!  And, the miners climbed this with heavy packs on their backs, and ohhhh, they did it 30 or 40 times before they were allowed to cross into Canada, they had to bring with them, 1 years supplies!  It took that many trips up (and back) to accumulate that years worth of supplies.  I cannot even imagine!

Fireweed going to seed. I was not aware it did this seed part, a RVing friend told me, so, I started watching.

Single lane bridge.  Wooden deck, 11 foot 2 inches tall, we are 10 foot 4 inches.  We were under the stated weight limit.

Drove to Slide Cemetery. This cemetery is the last resting place of many victims of an avalanche during the gold rush.

Then to what was tagged the parking lot for the townsite.  It was a nice walk, not marked the best and we had no maps or anything from the park service. We got in our steps!  Along the way I note the moss, thick moss.  It is like a several acre moss carpet.  Photo does not do justice.

Headed back to Skagway, enjoying each mile of the ride - -

On the way back to camp we stopped at an overlook, high above Skagway. The vantage point was perfect. Note the airport runway in the foreground and the harbor.

Back at camp we are getting ready to head out in the morning. Back to the Yukon.  Just before I shut the door to The Estate, I see - - WOW!
