Speaking of Full Moons, We Were, Weren't We?

Copyright 2021, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

Recently, during a cleaning seige, Man and I pulled a old suitcase out of one of the closets.  And, yes, that is a rope handle.

It was time to rediscover what goodies it was protecting.

Lots of wedding photos, portraits, photos with family significance, almost all of which I had previously scanned and linked to my database.

Still, what fun we had looking at them all once more.

I frankly did not remember this photo, but, we know it was taken and processed in Man's parent's basement darkroom by his father.  We have no date, but, around 1960ish is close enough for us.

And, since we just had the February "snow" full moon - -

I'm not quite sure why all the black around the outside is strangely shaped.  But, when I think of the state of photography equipment in that era, plus his printing in his own darkroom, I'm soooo impressed.

We were speaking of full moons, weren't we??  Of course we were.

Sony Too and the Friday the 13th June 2014 Full Moon

Copyright 2014, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

I had to try.

I bought a new very light weight tripod, I hope I can make it work for hiking.  The tripod weighs about 1 pound.  It is not super duper steady like the larger heavy duty tripods we own.  But, I cannot carry those monsters while hiking.  First I need a really good special backpack for that, and even tho I have looked around a bit, I have not purchased anything.  Second, dang, they are heavy.  I am weak, heavy stuff to tote around while hiking along with weak, ICK!

I am still undecided on this tripod, but, I did get this photo with the tripod, Sony Too, and holding my breath.

Photo only resized, no other editing was done.  Color and tones and such right out of the camera.

No peachy color as I have seen others, but, I did get this image of what looks like a orange??  See, down there at the bottom, just to the right of center.  Orange, I want to reach out and peal that baby!

So, there is my attempt at the full moon on Friday the 13th, June 2014.

No Total Lunar Eclipse, But, Pray Tell, WHAT is This?

Copyright 2011, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

Nope, Man and I are too far east to even have hoped for a viewing of the total lunar eclipse that my friends in the western US saw this morning.  Of course, there is that "you gotta be up and outside at o dark thirty".  HAHA, like that is gonna happen unless one of the fur kids just HAS to go potty.  Let's just say we don't really have an alarm clock in Tana, so we either wake up, the fur kids wake us up, or we sleep!

But, they do need to go outside during the night, and last night was no exception, one trip was at about 12:15 Central time.  I looked at the skies, I do that frequently when they are going potty, I love to see what the conditions are, how many stars I can see - -

Last night I saw this (photo is not the best, no tripod, too many lights on by Tana, etc., etc., etc.)

Not sure how well you can see it, but, in the middle is the full moon.  Surrounding it was a full halo.  Not one star in sight.  I don't recall ever seeing anything like this before.  Have you??

* By the way, you might try clicking on the photo, it will open to a black screen behind the photo, I think you can see it a bit better that way.

** Had to do some google research, this site explains my halo.  Try a google search of this term, halo around full moon, interesting stuff.
