Up early. Man’s back twinged out. Dealt with mud getting packed up. Back up camera muddy. Not much use, Eh?
Fueled up.
Misty. Miles and miles and double, triple those miles, nothing but trees, road. Many of those miles there are no phone or power lines. If you want to unplug, this is where you do it. Minimal traffic. I cannot help but wonder, where all the peeps are?
Spied several sand hill cranes in a wet ditch along the highway. No photo. 2015 fire. 20,000 acres.
50ish degrees.
Had to stop at a pullout to download 1250 photos, give or take a few. Had not done so since we left home. Camera card full. Ooopsie.
We were told Sprint was likely to be weak to dead as we travel further, and in Alaska. And that AT&T was much better. Well, guess what. Near and in Fort Nelson, AT&T is DOA. Non-existent. Seems AT&T switched to Rogers network as their partner last year. Peeps/customers are not happy. As they say, nothing stays the same.
Lunch at Fort Nelson, Tim Hortons, the food is still good, the service and facilities (baths) dirty. Onward.
Ohhh. Travel in Canada improves ones math and conversion skills. Yep. 1 kilometer = .6 miles. Just saying. Yes, rounded off, deal with it! Mile markers are kilometer meters, distances on maps, yep, kilometers. Speed limits, same. Our GPS has function to change to kilometers, even the altitude, yepper, handy little function. If it shows we are over 2000 meters, we are up pretty good, well over 6500 feet (again, rounded off, deal with it! LOL)
Birch trees. Swear I saw fireweed blooming, bout half way up the stalk?
Black bear. No photo
Canadian Rockies. At one summit visibility dropped to almost nil. The northern side was much prettier in my opinion.
A bit cloudy - - it got "better"
At one summit - - no vis. This was not a happy moment of travel - - nope, not liking this much. Thankfully, it did not last long, we drove right out of it!
3 old bridges (photos of two). Rivers.
The river runs under it - -
Second bridge - -
241 miles
Arrived at campground, Toad River Lodge & RV Park, in the rain again. I think there is a beaver home/lodge in the lake behind us.
The WiFi seems a bit better here. And there are some cable stations.
And, the beaver came out! Bucket list, it may not have been before, but, it was today and I checked it off! LOL
It is said the campground owners provide trees for the beaver to process for their dams and lodges, keeps em from chewing up the trees in the campground. Clever.
