* Disclaimers, I use Find A Grave, Ancestry dot com, FamilySearch, several newspaper subscriptions, free sites, such as Virginia Chronicles, Virginia Chancery Cases online at the Library of Virginia and more to research my ancestors.  I pay for subscriptions, full price.

** My judgements may or may not be correct.  Transcriptions may or may not have errors.

*** Links, URL's, for the most part will not be included henceforth on my posts, as so many of them change and then I have to come back and try to re-discover and relink.  Frankly folks, I have no desire to spend my limited time here on this side of the sod with those kinds of do overs.  As researchers, or just members of the internet community, sites such as Find A Grave are easy to find, some are free to use and with the information I am sharing with you, hopefully, you can duplicate the research/findings. That said, I have seen memorials at Find A Grave be removed.  If you have questions, I suggest you leave a nice comment for me. OR find the method I have outlined on my blog for contacting me.

Do we have information on who Thomas's father is?

I have not found much on Thomas, no. If you would care to contact me at the email listed in the right column we could chat about Thomas and Arthur.

I"m quite late with my comment but, I am the great-granddaughter of Muriel Sisco (Parents Alvin and Edna Sisco) and Roland Archibald Jacklyn. Thank you so much for putting all this information together, I can't wait to share with my family!

After Arthur became a jarvis once his mother remarried, what happened After that? Who did he marry?

Muriels brother, Arthur, I believe is my great great grandfather. But we are Siscos..im unsure how we switched back from jarvis to sisco, unless the taking of jarvis name was a legal thing and they still went by sisco.

Dear sdasd,

I suspect, you have confused generations, it is so very easy to do, I do it all the time even after all the years I have been researching.

As far as the 1901 census, and what appears to be a name "change", please note that there is a high error rate in census, I have seen estimates of error rates as high as 20 %. It is also very very very common when a woman remarries and brings children into the second marriage from her first marriage, that the person recording the occupants in a household in census reports will record the children with the new marriage surname. It gets complicated quite fast. From my notes, I indicate that these children, are in fact born with the name Sisco:

Dorothy Jarvis17 ALL THESE KIDS ARE SISCO
Ingals Jarvis 16
Alvin Jarvis 13
David Jarvis 8
Authur Jarvis 6

No legal proof of surnames was required by census takers, at least to my knowledge.

Your Arthur marries using the surname Sisco and his death record also records his surname of Sisco.

He married Dollie Fenton in 1913 and died in 1916. I only have recorded one child for this marriage, Harold Arthur Sisco, born in 1915. Dollie is a half sister of Edna May Fenton Sisco Stevens.

Your lineage, I suspect reads something like this:

Thomas Sisco and wife Adlaide “Annie” Thompson
Arthur Sisco and Dollie Fenton
Harold Arthur Sisco and Anna Higby

You will find a email addy in the right column of the blog, if you have further questions, feel free to contact me that way.

Hopefully I made this more clear instead of more muddy. Have a great day. Thanks for reading.

Yes! I was confused!Harold and Anna are my great grandparents. They had 2 sons. Arthur and william. Arthur had 3 sons, Arthur david and Daniel, Arthur had a son and daughter, Aaron Arthur and Cassandra. Cassandra has a son Felix Arthur. So the name Arthur goes all the way back. So interesting! THANK YOU
