This continues what I hope I can turn into a series of posts, done in a very efficient (make that speedy fast) manner to share some research on the ancestors. This is NOT intended to be the end all to end all report. It's a work in progress, to show you what I have found, right or wrong. Kind feedback is welcomed via comments.
Let's begin - -
Meet Lucy Ann (nee) Turner Darden
Lucy's Find A Grave memorial # is 38454288. I am the current memorial manager. I have not edited her memorial in some time, I may do that after I write this post.
Her notes, some with ** and comments. We have been fortunate in finding a number of "gossip" column reports, etc., in the newspapers. They sure add to her story:
It is compiler's belief that Lucy is found on the 1870 U. S. Census of Newport District, Isle of Wight County, Virginia in the household of her brother, Peyton R. Turner. She is listed as Lucy Pruden, age 21, at home and born Virginia. Compiler does not believe she was married to any one by the name of Pruden, but that a recording error by the enumerator was made.
Julian and Lucy were married by W. E. Allen. Her parents are listed as Jas. S. and Lydia K. Turner. Here is part of the marriage record from the record books of Isle of Wight County, Virginia. The red stars are marking the month (February), the day of the month (the 1st), names of groom and bride, marital status of groom and bride (both single) and their places of birth. (Best copy available at this time.)

On one of my visits to the area, I found that Lucy had a "calling card" at the Isle of Wight (Virginia) Museum. I was lucky to obtain a copy. Isn't that fun?

Little, as in almost none, research has been done on her parents and siblings.

*** Links, URL's, for the most part will not be included henceforth on my posts, as so many of them change and then I have to come back and try to re-discover and relink. Frankly folks, I have no desire to spend my limited time here on this side of the sod with those kinds of do overs. As researchers, or just members of the internet community, sites such as Find A Grave are easy to find, some are free to use and with the information I am sharing you, hopefully, you can duplicate the research/findings. That said, I have seen memorials at Find A Grave be removed. If you have questions, I suggest you leave a nice comment for me. OR find the method I have outlined on my blog for contacting me.
