RVers Nightmare, Sewer Backs Up, Last Day Moaning: The Estate Takes on Alaska

Today is cleanemup and packemup day.

By 1:15 we have showers and Sir W has been groomed.  Man goes to dump and the sewer is backed up.  Not ours, THEIRS.

Yes, it is bad.  Man is livid (partly, cause we were going to lunch as soon as the dump thingy was over, and frankly, he is hungry, and bears are not happy or nice when they are hungry.)

RVing is a romantic, exciting life.  It takes us to wonderful places, and we can stay long enough to absorb  that wonderful.  But, it is also a lot of work, can be icky, like when the sewer does not dump. Remember, the Stevens’ saying - -

"To play in this sport, you have to be handy with your hands and handy with your cash."

Sooooo, as staff from the campground is here fixing the problem, the back story of the campground  comes forth.  This campground belongs to the National Forest service and is leased out, by the year.  The current operator, took over with NO inspections. They did not inspect the electrical or sewer systems.  All was well from day of occupation, May 10th,  one day after the roads were plowed,  until about 10 days ago when it rained.  Now, electrical shorts (and remember how hot it has been) and plumbing is backing up all over the place.  There is a sign, down at the entrance, “FULL”,  even tho, it is obvious they are not.  They have no computer in the office for anything office like.  They currently have one loop of 9 sites not useable cause the sewer is backed up, for the entire loop.  There be mucho trouble in the land of plenty.

After this sewer episode, all fixed, cleaned up and such, we asked for and were given another campsite for our last night here, and we went to the lodge for a very very late lunch.  This creature was found climbing around on the windshield of The Estate.  No, we did not touch it or attempt to remove it.  Photo and walk away.

And, just in case you needed to see it in the larger enhanced view - -

Dorian, the hurricane forecasts, is bouncing all around Florida.  Dang it.

We went back to the day use area for a few hours, enjoying connectivity and our last hours here.

Back at camp, in our third campsite in this park in 7 nights, we barely got parked and hooked up and the rain came.  It rained, lightly, for half of the night.
