The Road to Shelby Montana: The Estate Takes on Alaska

A long day one day usually means a rough slow start to the next. Yep!  LOL. But we managed to roll by 9:27. Ya us.

We are starting to develop work flow in The Estate.  Even little events like making my morning brew are easier when you have a smooth and functional work flow.

And we have a coolish breeze, fairly sunny skies and west we go.

So far a mileage kinda day. Peddle to the floor.

Fuel stop we gave a survey to the University of Montana. Travel thingy.

Lunch at Havre. Chars. The locals gather here. Good food.  Great deserts. Home made, best pie crust.

Some rain.

3 antelope on or near the highway.  Pretty things. Minutes later another one, larger, but by himself/herself ran cross 2.

In The Estate, I think we put one tweetie bird out of its misery. Still some tweets now and then.  Some other rattles that I have not silenced. Yet. Ok. Maybe never. But I will keep trying.

Tonight we will be about 1000 feet above last night.

The trains are epic long. They run beside Route 2 for miles and miles. As do the fields. Most appear to be hay or straw.  Passed through an area called “sweet grass”.

I have seen a few peaks of mountains, they are at the purple mountain majesty distance right now.

In Chester we stopped at the rest area to let a thunderstorm pass.

Our city rest area, it was sweet - -

Nap time.

After an hour or so of rest, we hit the road, the storm has passed and we are on to Shelby Montana.

But first I get to drive around 10 miles of dirt highway (again, practicing for Alaska??)  Top speed was 35 and 25 was common.

Our place for the night in Shelby, Montana. It was a buggar to find, as the infamous AllStays Campgrounds app had the park well over a mile south of where it really is.  I reported the error, of course.  It was sorta warm when we arrived.

Man caulked the shower faucets, the tub was totally dry upon arrival.  Fingers crossed on that one.

We did 260 miles today.

Tomorrow?  Seems like Alberta may be the destination??
