Before we hit the miles and miles of the drive to the Lost Coast we stop in Ferndale California for breakfast and to have a quick look at the lovely Victorian homes. The Wikipedia page for Ferndale is here, where you can learn about the history and be sure to note the reference to the "giant ferns"!
Inside the Victorian Inn, love the fans. We stopped to inquire about breakfast, but, we did not stay, choosing instead to wander around and see what else we might find.
Another shot of this great store facade, the detail, the detail!
We ended up at the Lost Coast Cafe'. The food was wonderful, freshly prepared. I did not quite figure out how the Hippie sign found it's way to a Victorian town. Man and I were able to enter and leave via the front door, guess we don't look like OLD hippies.
I am not that well versed in Victorian vs other styles of homes. This cute little place does not look very Victorian to me, but, I could live there, isn't it sweet?
The pale yellow color is subtle, the architectural forms are strong, the gardens and plants well done. Someone loves their home!
This is the Gingerbread Mansion Bed & Breakfast.
Love the wonderful paint detail.
The town has a beautiful cemetery, yes, I have photos of that too! You doubted I would? LOL
The Lost Coast is calling our name, soon we will leave civilization behind and travel for miles and miles, sharing the road with few.
