She was Margaret Louise McLaury McAdams, also a china painter. My siblings and I have several pieces painted by Aunt Maud. She was very generous. We all proudly display her work in our homes.

You are correct about Aunt Maud’s date of birth. I noticed the discrepancy as I was reading your article. According to my McLaury family history, she was born 15 AUG 1875 • Troy, Lincoln, Missouri. When you do, please go back to the blog, look at the right hand column (on computer) and find a yahoo email addy and write me. I have some contacts that may be able to assist you in your special kind of research.

I am going to guess you have already done the basics, starting with yourself, working back through your parents, grandparents, etc. Verifying birth, death, marriage information. Finding them on census enumerations from 1940 to 1930, backwards (probably skipping 1890) to around 1870. Are they in Isle of Wight County in 1870?

Those are the basics, each which can be enhanced by additional deep digging research.

Hope to hear from you.Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11754623831815018924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4369519054620493278.post-14396826983570104922020-10-31T11:35:00.047-04:002020-10-31T11:35:00.047-04:00Hello. I’ve hit the slavery wall. I know that my family comes from the Isle of Wight. I was told to start with my last name and the ancestors of the people who may have enslaved my ancestors to try and find them. I came across the post of the will and wondered if I’m related to any of them. If you could offer any help I would be forever grateful. I used to live in her condo complex in Long Beach. I was on the board with Bob and we always used to chat. I moved from Long Beach about 10 years ago, but sold my condo almost 4 years ago. Seeing her email made me wonder what she and Bob were up to, and I am sad to see that she has passed away. She was always super nice (they both were), and I always made a point to visit her when I had to take care of my renters. My daughter still has the blanket she crocheted for her when she was born. I miss them both, and I hope that Bob is doing ok- say hi for me! The white snow and blue water never fail to mesmerize me. I learned to ski at Crater Lake. We would push off from the lodge area and ski down to government camp, where we met our ride for a return trip. We had to take turns shuttling the car, but still got a bunch of skiing in. During WWII my husband's family would go to Crater Lake nearly every weekend in the winter. They stayed at government camp -- one building for the women and one for the men. They had to carry a small gas driven rope tow up and down the mountain --- park regulations at that time wouldn't allow them to leave it over night. But mostly they cross country skiied down from the lodge area --- sometimes going as far as Fort Klamath if the snow was good. A beautiful place.Joanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07948553013206247354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4369519054620493278.post-91038104022212032342019-09-03T18:02:02.030-04:002019-09-03T18:02:02.030-04:00Welcome to my country.
